Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of Amazon Q, the company’s generative AI-powered assistant designed for work. With the launch, AWS joins the ranks of companies like Google and Microsoft who have also released a generative solution.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) CEO Adam Selipsky said that once connected to a company’s data sources and more than 40 enterprise systems, its employees can use Amazon Q to hold conversations, solve problems, generate content, gain insights, and act on them by tapping into the connected corporate information repositories, code, data, and enterprise systems. These include Amazon S3, Google Drive, Microsoft SharePoint, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Zendesk, and Slack.

In a blog post, Amazon said that Amazon Q offers user-based plans, so users get features, pricing, and options tailored to how they use the product.

Some usage examples include a marketing manager asking Amazon Q to change a press release into a blog post, or when planning a trip, a traveller asks, “Can I carry a pet with me in the cabin to Jamaica?”

In terms of security, Amazon Q can adapt its interactions to each individual user based on the existing identities, roles, and permissions of a business. Plus, AWS never uses customers’ content from Amazon Q to train the underlying models, so your company information remains secure and private.

To access Amazon Q in the AWS Management Console, you need to first log in to the console, and then ensure that you have the appropriate permissions to use Amazon Q.
