Secretlab Premium Footrest impressions: My feet are feeling too pampered right now

Note: This article was first published on 8th April 2023 and is now re-published as The Tech Show is ongoing with offers for this product.

Earlier this year, Secretlab introduced the latest companion to their gaming chairs: footrests! There are currently two models in the new category, namely the Premium Footrest and the Professional Footrest. As it’s not a main line product, unlike theTitan Evo or Magnus series, Secretlab dispensed with names for both accessories – it’s simply ‘footrest’. The Professional version will only be available sometime in June, but the Premium Footrest is currently available for S$99.

Made of a dual-density foam construction – Secretlab says it’s a specially formulated medium-firm cold-cure foam that’s wrapped in visco-elastic PlushCell Memory Foam – that offers a plush feel, the Premium Footrest is built to offer comfort and support for your feet while preserving an ergonomic design from every perspective.

I have been using the Premium Footrest for a few weeks now, thanks to an early sample that Secretlab sent over, and boy, have I (or rather my feet) been enjoying it.

Undeniably, comfort is the essential element of a footrest. The Secretlab Premium Footrest, featuring plush fabric and a quilted surface, provides a great experience for my feet. I had been using a satisfactory footrest from ErgoFoam with my Titan Evo gaming chair, but only after switching to Secretlab did I notice the difference in comfort.

The curved edges with a flat top surface design of the footrest allow you to position your feet at any angle without having to adjust or use levers. It also stays put but can be easily moved with a slight nudge of your foot.

As the Premium Footrest is meant to be used barefooted (or at least with socks on), its surface can accumulate dirt and dust over time – and its top black-colour memory foam only made this grime more obvious. In this aspect, the Professional Footrest, with its interchangeable footrest top options, seems to be the better choice if you are a clean freak or don’t make the effort to clean up often.

But that said, cleaning the Premium Footrest’s fabric is a cinch. In my case, I usually use my vacuum cleaner (a Dyson V12 attached with a Hair screw head) over it and it’s as good as new. In terms of durability, I can’t quite comment on that yet as it’s only been a few weeks. Hybrid work arrangement also meant that I don’t get to use it daily. I'll be sure to update if anything unusual surfaces in the coming weeks. But certainly, in my time with it – be it for gaming or work – the footrest adds a layer of comfort that I never knew was possible.

Would I recommend Secretlab’s Premium Footrest then? Absolutely. If you’re seeking a top-tier footrest, one that offers comfort, stability, easy maintenance and an attractive appearance (more so if you’re already invested in Secretlab’s product ecosystem), and don’t mind spending a bit more than the price of a standard footrest (my ErgoFoamis priced at S$105 on Amazon right now), be prepared for a pleasant surprise.

I know I did; in fact, I’ve ordered a second one for use in the office.

Keen to get the SecretlabPremium Footrest? You can get it here S$99.
