Kenny's top computing deals from The Tech Show 2023

The Tech Show is here and it's happening right now at Suntec Convention Centre level 4. With so much happening, it can be hard to suss out great deals. But fear not, because I went down to have a look-see and here are the deals that I think you should check out if you are looking for a new notebook or storage device.

Acer Swift X 14 OLED

One of the most bang for buck notebooks I saw at The Tech Show was the Acer Swift X 14 OLED. It has a 14.5-inch OLED display and is powered by an Intel Core i5-13500H processor with 16GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. It even has discrete graphics in the form of NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 3050. It also has Killer Wi-Fi 6E and weighs 1.55kg. It's going for S$1,298 and comes with a free wireless mouse.

ASUS Vivobook 14

The ASUS Vivobook 14 is one of the more affordable 14-inch notebooks I saw. It comes with an Intel Core i5-1235U processor with 8GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. There's also a 15-inch version that comes with the same specs. Incredibly, both versions are priced identically at S$799 and will come with a free ASUS backpack.

HP 255 G8

The HP 255 G8 was the cheapest 15-inch notebook I saw at the show. It has a 15.6-inch Full-HD display and is powered by the AMD Ryzen 5 5500U with 8GB of memory and 512GB SSD. It's pretty light for a 15-inch notebook too, weighing just 1.5kg. It could be a great option if you are looking for a 15-inch notebook on a tight budget. It's going for S$699.

Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3

One of the more affordable 14-inch notebooks I saw was the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3. It has a 14-inch Full-HD IPS display and is powered by an Intel Core i5-12450H processor wits a very decent 16GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. It's going for S$799 and comes with a free Lenovo backpack.

LG gram 14

Few notebooks are as portable as the LG gram 14. It weighs a mere 1kg and comes with a large 72Wh battery for long hours of mobile computing. This model comes with a 14-inch Full-HD+ display, an Intel Core i5-1340P, 16GB of memory, and a 512GB SSD. It's going for S$1,999 (U.P S$2,199) and comes with a free notebook sleeve.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9

Microsoft's Surface Pro 9 is arguably the best 2-in-1 ultraportable notebook you can buy. It's thin, light, and has a fantastic display, and the writing experience is great. You can get the Core i5 version with 8GB of memory and 256GB of storage forS$1467.61(U.P. S$1,939). All purchases of the Surface Pro 9 will come with a free Type Cover. Furthermore, students will also get a free Surface Slim Pen 2.

MSI Prestige 14

The MSI Prestige 14 is a 14-inch ultraportable notebook with anFHD IPS display, Intel Core i5-13500H processor, 16GB of memory, and 512GB SSD. It also has two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and it supports Wi-Fi 6E. It's going forS$1,599and comes with a free Bluetooth mouse and the choice of a free carrying case or backpack.

SanDisk High Endurance microSD card

Looking for a microSD card to use with your car's dashcam? Check out SanDisk's High Endurance microSD cards. These cards are designed for use with dashcams and CCTVs, and can record up to 40,000 hours. Prices start from just S$9.90 for a 32GB card. A 256GB card is S$37.

Seagate One Touch SSD

The Seagate One Touch SSD is a compact portable SSD that's small enough to slip into pockets. It connects over USB-C and can deliver transfer speeds of up to 1,030MB/s. It works with Windows PCs, Macs, and Chrome OS systems. The 1TB version is going forS$109while the 2TB version isS$189. All purchases will come with a free 3-year data recovery service.

WD My Passport Portable Hard Drive

WD has a new version of its popular My Passport portable external HDD. It has a slimmer form factor and features built-in 256-bit AES encryption. It supports transfer rates of up to 5Gbps. Prices start at S$129 (U.P S$149) for the 2TB version. The 4TB version is S$179 (U.P S$189), while the 5TB version is S$219 (U.P S$259). All purchases will come with a free carrying pouch.
