When it comes to gaming headsets, Logitech has consistently delivered top-notch products that combine style, comfort, and impressive sound quality. The Logitech Pro X 2 Lightspeed is no exception, building upon the success of its predecessor, the Logitech Pro X Lightspeed, and introducing several noteworthy enhancements that truly take gaming audio to new heights.

First, let’s discuss the design of the Pro X 2 Lightspeed. I can't help but appreciate the sleek and sophisticated aesthetics that Logitech has meticulously crafted. With its elegant blend of form and functionality, this headset is a visual treat for any gaming enthusiast. Furthermore, Logitech has made it more travel-friendly by reducing its weight by 40g, making it noticeably lighter and easier to carry on your gaming adventures. The compact design is another welcome addition, ensuring that the headset takes up minimal space in your bag without compromising on style or performance.

One design feature that sets the Pro X 2 Lightspeed apart is the rotating hinge on each yoke. This allows you to rotate the ear cups and flatten the headset, making it even more convenient to store and transport. Not only does this improve its portability, but it also enhances the overall comfort by accommodating different head shapes and sizes. Logitech's attention to detail in the design department truly shines through, ensuring that users can enjoy both style and comfort simultaneously.

All the connections

In terms of versatility, Logitech has gone above and beyond with the Pro X 2 Lightspeed. You have the freedom to choose between Logitech's Lightspeed wireless technology, offering a remarkable range of up to 30m, Bluetooth connectivity for seamless wireless pairing with compatible devices, and a 3.5mm wired connection for those times when you prefer a more traditional setup. This flexibility allows you to switch between devices and gaming platforms effortlessly, ensuring that you are always ready for the next gaming session.

Comfort has always been a crucial factor in gaming headsets, and Logitech understands this. The Pro X 2 Lightspeed provides exceptional comfort with its soft-to-touch leatherette earcups and headband. The plush materials ensure a comfortable fit even during extended gaming sessions, enveloping your ears in a world of immersive sound. But Logitech doesn't stop there. Recognising that personal preferences vary, they have also included a pair of velour earpads that can be easily swapped with the leatherette ones. This option is particularly appealing for those of us who tend to experience heat build-up and excessive sweating during intense gameplay.

Fantastic audio performance

What about the headset’s audio performance?

Logitech has taken a bold step forward by introducing its proprietary Pro-G Graphene audio drivers. These cutting-edge drivers feature a diaphragm that is 90 per cent graphene by weight, surpassing the traditional mylar diaphragms found in most gaming headsets. But what does this mean for the gaming experience?

To put it simply, the Pro X 2 Lightspeed delivers audio fidelity that by far one of the best around – as far as gaming headsets are concerned at least. The graphene diaphragms offer superior rigidity and lightweight properties, resulting in more accurate sound reproduction and an immersive audio landscape. Whether you are playing fast-paced shooters, exploring vast open worlds, or enjoying the intricate sound design of a narrative-driven game, the Pro X 2 Lightspeed faithfully captures every detail.

When it comes to sound quality, the Pro X 2 Lightspeed truly shines. While its predecessor had a bright frequency range with restrained mids and bass, the Pro X 2 Lightspeed has undergone significant improvements. The highs are detailed and present, ensuring that in-game elements come to life with clarity. Even the subtlest sounds, such as the sound of foot stepsin Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (thank goodness for the included 3.5mm audio cable), are delivered with stunning precision. The mids are full-bodied without muddying the overall audio, striking a perfect balance between clarity and warmth. It is worth noting that when using the surround sound feature, the mids become even more pronounced, enhancing the immersion but potentially causing slight fatigue after extended use.

One of the standout features of the Pro X 2 Lightspeed is its expansive soundstage. In stereo mode, the headset provides an impressively wide soundstage, allowing for excellent sound imaging and precise audio localization. Whether you are engaged in an intense firefight or exploring a detailed game world, the headset's ability to accurately position sound sources adds a remarkable level of depth and immersion to your gaming sessions.

Enabling the DTS X Spatial Sound takes the audio experience to new dimensions. While the soundstage doesn't widen significantly, the three-dimensional effect it creates enhances the immersion and makes you feel like you are right in the heart of the action. Environmental sounds and scores come alive, enveloping you in a rich sonic atmosphere. Listening to music with the Super Stereo mode activated is a treat for audiophiles, as it transforms your gaming headset into a virtual concert hall, bringing your favourite tracks to life with stunning fidelity and depth.

The Pro X 2 Lightspeed also features a built-in microphone that delivers clear and intelligible voice communication. While it may not be the crispest-sounding microphone in the market, it does an admirable job of capturing your voice accurately while minimising background noise. The microphone's performance is further enhanced by Logitech's Blue Voice technology, which allows for customisation and fine-tuning of audio settings via the G Hub app.

Battery life is a huge highlight with the Pro X 2 Lightspeed. With a battery life of up to 50 hours on a single charge, you can embark on marathon gaming sessions without worrying about running out of power. It is worth mentioning that while there are headsets with longer battery life available, the Pro X 2 Lightspeed's endurance is more than sufficient for most gamers. In my experience with the headset, charging once a week should easily accommodate eight-hour gaming sessions every day.

Final thoughts

The Logitech Pro X 2 Lightspeed is a testament to Logitech's commitment to pushing the boundaries of gaming audio. Its refined design, exceptional comfort, and the introduction of graphene drivers set it apart from the competition. I find that the Pro X 2 Lightspeed delivers a truly immersive gaming experience, with its detailed and accurate sound reproduction, wide soundstage, and versatile connectivity options.

While there are minor drawbacks, such as the weight not being as light as expected and the potential for slight fatigue when using the surround sound feature for extended periods, the overall performance of the headset is exceptional. If you're in search of a gaming headset the Logitech Pro X 2 Lightspeed should undoubtedly be at the top of your list.
