Apple will issue software update to fix iPhone 15 overheating issues

Apple says thee overheating issues on some iPhone 15 models are due to a bug in iOS 17 and recent updates to some third-party apps.

Since the launch of the iPhone 15 on 22 September, there have been numerous reports that the iPhone 15 devices are overheating under normal usage conditions such as charging, scrolling through social media apps and gaming.

Apple has now issued an official explanation for the overheating issues; it iscaused by a bug in iOS 17 and it will be fixed in an upcoming software update. Apple wants to assure users that the software update will not reduce performance to address the overheating issues, and that there is no safety risk to iPhone users and no impact on long-term performance.

In addition, the iPhone maker says recent updates to some third-party apps are overloading the system. Some of these apps include Instagram, Asphalt 9 and Uber. Apple is working with these developers to fix the issues.

The iPhone maker also shot down reports that the titanium design is to be blamed for the overheating issues. Earlier last week, analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed the titanium frame reduced the thermal efficiency of the iPhone 15 Pro. On the contrary, Apple states that the titanium design has better heat dissipation than previous iPhone models.

You can find Apple's statement on the matter below:
