TikTok announced a quality-of-life improvement to its app, with the company stating that it's better optimised for devices with larger or unconventional display dimensions.

In its official statement, TikTok said its app now offers a "complete upgrade, ensuring a seamless and visually appealing TikTok experience for users worldwide".

"This app upgrade is our commitment to providing an inclusive and enjoyable space for everyone, and we will continue investing in creating a great experience for our community," said its official statement.

Specifically, the video feed is now clearer on devices with larger form factors, with appropriately streamlined navigation bars and orientation support. The new navigation bar now sits at the top and bottom of the screen, while orientation support means browsing TikTok in both portrait (vertical) and landscape (horizontal) modes.

Previously, you could still use TikTok on tablets and mobile handsets with uncommon aspect ratios, although it would make for a cramped or weird browsing journey. You might have noticed that some TikTok clips hit differently when you view the same clip on an Android and iOS device since the aspect ratios of your phone may result in some resizing or cropping. Owners of foldable phones may have also noticed that the viewing experience was more comfortable if you rotate it on one specific side.

TikTok did not specify which mobile devices would get the upgrade first, but it said that the upgrade makes better use of display real estate found on foldable gadgets and tablets.
