ASUS launches laptop trade-in programme for the holidays to help you reduce e-waste
Let's face it. Your six-year-old laptop is running relatively well and more than stellar in handling your daily work grind. It's not as tip-top in shape as it used to be, but with an SSD under the hood, it's likely smooth for most usage needs. But if you want to shake things up, like playing some games or indulging in creative workflows such as multimedia creation or live streaming your gameplay, an old laptop is likely sputtering away, wondering when you might replace it. Yet, because it works, you don't really have a heart for chucking it out for a new laptop.
Well, now ASUS has made it easier to part with your old laptop, get some online store credits and lighten your burden to get a new workhorse. If your old laptop is still working and in reasonable condition (you can check the terms and conditions here), no matter the age of the device, you stand to gain the following ASUS e-store credit to use:-

The catch is that your old laptop has to be an ASUS laptop from either the Expertbook, Vivobook, Zenbook Chromebook, ROG or TUF series.Now that sort of covers a wide variety of notebooks that ASUS has been putting out for many years now. However, if you happen to have an Intel Celeron-based or an AMD A-series processors notebook, you're out of luck. In fact, I happen to own a Core M powered ASUS UX305 laptop, but sadly, I've confirmed with ASUS that it won't qualify for any rebates.
Should your ASUS laptop meet the intended class of specs, but it doesn't work, you still get to qualify for S$50 worth of ASUS e-store credits.
How else can ASUS make this trade-in scheme better? For one, it would be even better if they could take in any laptop and not be ASUS-specific. This could be a great way to get new customers. After all,ASUS is working with an external party for these trade-in programmes, so they could certainly consider running this scheme where there's a base price for all other laptops, but you get more if you trade-in an ASUS-branded laptop.
Lastly, ASUS is only running this trade-in programme from 9th to 31st December. To get the trade-in going, you can bring your qualifying laptop to the ASUS Exclusive Store at BugisJunction. Their staff will assist with the trade-in process and collect your qualifying laptop(s). You will then be notified of the e-store credit once the third-party assessment has been processed.
It would be great if the trade-in programme becomesa new long-term initiative beyond the holiday period. Hopefully, we'll see a permanent programme with better benefits in the future.
