Canon launches 4K resolution indoor webcam for recording online classes and seminar livestreaming
Canon has announced the CR-N100 indoor 4K remote camera, adding to its growing selection of remote camera systems by the Japanese imaging giant.
The Canon CR-N100 is designed for an essential group of users who present information to others for work or personal reasons. That covers just about any corporate executive or academic instructor who’s tasked not only with endless preparation for keynotes, but also having to present them all the time.
To address the needs of online meetings, lectures, seminars, and digital video tutorials, Canon developed a compact, webcam-styled camera with 4K resolution at 30FPS, paired with 20x optical zoom (29.3 to 601mm focal length) lens. It’s powered by a 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor with Canon’s Digic DV6 image processing platform.
The camera has pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) capabilities and four “scene modes” (Portrait, Sports, Low-Light, and Spotlight) to help them look their professional best, be it livestreaming, broadcasting, or recording online video notes for others. If you want, you can also grab the optional Add-On Applications System that avails auto-tracking for PTZ.
CR-N100 supports IP, HDMI, and USB Video Class transmission formats. It uses RTMP for livestreaming, NDI HX for live visual production, and SRT for video streaming stability.
For institutions needing multiple CR-N100 cameras, Canon also has the Multi-camera Management Application (at no extra cost) that lets enterprises configure up to 200 at once.
The Canon CR-N100 will go on sale in Singapore from October 2023 onwards. You can find it via Canon’s landing page for enterprise customers.
