Huawei’s FreeBuds Pro 3 represent the company’s new generation of flagship TWS earbuds and as such comes with a host of new technology to deliver sound and silence to users.

It has an ultra-hearing dual-driver setup, with a Halbach array with high transient response, an 11mm ultra-mag bass driver, digital cross-over technology and a frequency response range of 14 Hz to 48 kHz.

The FreeBuds Pro 3 supports both the L2HC 2.02 and LDAC codecs but do note that the connected devices also need to have similar support to really enjoy the full benefit. For example, only certain Huawei smartphones running EMUI 13 or later, support the L2HC 2.0 feature. The FreeBuds 2 only came with support for the LDAC codec.

A Triple Adaptive EQ algorithm that detects the volume level, ear canal shape, and wearing status in real-time, and applies the optimal sound level and EQ settings to ensure that user’s favourite music always sounds just the way they like it.

A redesigned bone conduction voice pick-up (VPU) microphone stays closely fixed to your ears and works in tandem with three other microphones to form a four-mic system, which detects and distinguishes between different types of ambient noise by frequency range, thanks to a multi-channel deep neural network (DNN) algorithm, while an updated AI adaptive noise cancellation algorithm (Intelligent ANC 3.0), works in real-time to provide a 50% improvement in noise cancellation. The FreeBuds Pro 3 background noise cancellation capability is improved by 5dB compared to the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 2.

The VPU microphone allows for 2.5 times better voice pickup during voice and video calls when compared to the FreeBuds Pro 2,

The earbuds are also IP54 dust- and splash-resistant and have up to 31 hours of listening time with the charging case with up to 6.5 hours on a single charge via USB-C. Users can also charge them wirelessly.

Besides the USB-C connectivity, users can connect to two devices at the same time and switch audio even between iOS and Android devices without having to repeatedly pair and disconnect. To watch videos or listen to music with loved ones, just bring another compatible earbuds and share the audio with Audio Sharing which is found on certain Huawei smartphones with EMUI 13 or later.

Made of 18K gold alloy in a gold bezel, gold crown, and 3D trapezoidal patterns for its engraving, the Huawei Watch Ultimate Design also has a gold PVD titanium strap with adjustable butterfly-styled buckle to set a new standard in wearable technology.

The 1.5-inch LTPO AMOLED colour screen has 466 × 466 pixels and 311ppi and runs on Harmony OS 3.0. We reached out to Huawei for the Processor, RAM and storage capabilities, but Huawei declined to comment.

Most of us buy a smartwatch for its health monitoring and sports tracking capabilities. With TruSeen 5.0+, users can monitor various aspects of their health ranging from cardiovascular health to SpO2 levels with its eight different sensors. It can even track stress levels and recommend breathing exercises to relax and calm down. TruSleep 3.0 sleep monitoring algorithm identifies key sleep states, with sleep quality scores and personalised advice on how to get the best possible night's rest.

It is rated as IP68 for splash, water, and dust resistance and complies with 10 ATM-rated 100-metre water resistance under the ISO 22810:2010 standard, so it can be worn during shallow water activities, such as swimming in pools and shallow waters along the coast. It also supports free diving with a maximum depth of 100m. The Watch Ultimate Design comes with support for four different diving modes, including technical and professional diving.

Do note that Huawei says that the metal straps are not designed to withstand swims or sweat and recommends that you wear other types of straps if you plan to swim on a regular basis. It also adds that the water resistance is not permanent, and protection may decrease with daily wear and tear.

You can download your favourite apps through Watch AppGallery. But remember that this is Huawei’s App store and not Google’s.

In terms of connectivity, the Watch Ultimate Design is both Android and iOS supported (the health app), has NFC and Bluetooth 5.2. Battery life goes from four days with the Always on Display enabled, eight days with typical usage, and up to 14 days of a maximum battery life.
