Samsung unveils artificial intelligence for its Galaxy phones — Galaxy AI
Even Samsung now throws its artificial intelligence (AI) hat into the ring.
Today (10 November 2023), Samsung announced Galaxy AI, a “comprehensive mobile AI experience” that uses Samsung’s on-device AI capabilities and proprietary cloud-based AI features for Galaxy products and services.
If that sounds familiar, it’s because Samsung’s approach of combining on-device and cloud-based AI is what Google also uses for their Pixel phones and interesting Magic-named features (for example, Magic Editor).
Samsung said its Galaxy AI cuts across several use cases, like communication, productivity, and creativity. However, it has name-dropped only one upcoming AI feature.
AI Live Translate Call by Samsung’s Galaxy AI is a personal translatorintegrated into the native call capabilities of Samsung phones (thus removing the need for third-party apps that can do the same).
AI Live Translate Call is said to offer audio and text translations in real-time, so callers speaking in another language get close-captioned subtitles like the ones you get in your favourite shows. Samsung added that this AI feature is on-device, making the calls private and not uploaded or processed anywhere beyond your Galaxy phone.

Galaxy AI is our most comprehensive intelligence offering to date, and it will change how we think about our phones forever,” said Wonjoon Choi, EVP and Head of R&D, Mobile eXperience Business, Samsung.
