iPhone 16 might come with upgraded mics for Siri and dictation accuracy
The rumoured introduction of new AI features for the iPhone 16 might prompt Apple to upgrade the mics.
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims the iPhone 16 lineup will come with upgraded microphone hardware which can better pick up the user's voice. This in turn will help to improve the accuracy of dictation and Siri voice commands.
Kuo added that the new microphones will have enhanced signal-to-noise ratio and higher water resistance. The new microphone hardware will be supplied by AAC and Goertek, and the component costs are expected to double compared to the iPhone 15.
While Apple was initially not expected to launch any generative AI product or service next year, the iPhone maker might be forced to accelerate the deployment to keep up with the competition since arch rival Samsung is likely to debut some AI features on the Galaxy S24 in January 2024.
