Apple might upgrade the ultra-wide camera on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Another report indicates a massive upgrade for the ultra-wide camera on the Apple iPhone 16 Pro next year.

Weibo user Instant Digitalclaims the Apple iPhone 16 Pro would be the first to sport a 48MP ultra-wide camera, which should offer better low-light performance when shooting in 0.5x mode.

The 48MP ultra-wide camera is likely to use the same pixel binning technology as the 48MP main camera, where data collected from four pixels are merged into one "super pixel". This should also mean that the iPhone 16 Pro can shoot 48MP ProRAW ultra-wide photos.

In October, Haitong International Securities analyst Jeff Pu shared that the iPhone 16 Pro models will be equipped with a new 48MP ultra-wide camera, making it the first upgrade to the ultra-wide camera module in three years.

Aside from a new ultra-wide camera, Apple is rumoured to useSony's new stacked camera sensor design on the iPhone 16 Pro. The stacked two-layer CMOS image sensor is stated to deliver better low-light photography and less underexposed or overexposed photos.
