New Macs are expected to be announced at end of the month
Apple is expected to announce new Macs at the end of this month.Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that Apple is planning a Mac-focused product launch on 30 or 31 October.
The announcement is likely to see the debut of a new 24-inch iMac model, an update which is long overdue considering that the existing 24-inch iMac was launched in 2021.Gurman's March report indicates that the new 24-inch iMac will be powered by a new M3 chip and come in the same colours (blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and purple).
An updated iMac Pro is unlikely to be unveiled. Gurman says Apple decided to postpone its launch due to cost concerns, and is now slated to arrive in late 2024 or 2025. As per his July report, the new iMac Pro is still in early development. The new iMac Pro will come with a 32-inch display, which makes it the biggest iMac ever.
With stocks of the 13-inch, 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros constrained at Apple Stores, Gurman believes it is a sign that there will be a refresh for the MacBook Pros. Although Apple updated the higher-end MacBook Pro models in January this year, Gurman thinks another update in the same year is not entirely unexpected.
This is a backtrack from his July report where Gurman initially claimed the refresh for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros would only arrive "by the middle of 2024 at the least". However, Gurman states Apple "has made headway on new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros."
Our own editor has also discussed on the weird setback if M3-powered Macbooks are incoming this year. With slightly over a week's time to the end of the month, it remains to be seen if Apple will hold an online launch event for the new Macs or announce them via a press release.
