Oppo announced it is bringing satellite connectivity to its next flagship phone.

In a post on the Chinese social networking site Weibo, Oppo shared that its next-generation Find flagship phone will support satellite connectivity technology.

However, the Chinese phone maker did not reveal further details such as the launch timeline, global availability, or the partner for the satellite communication technology. It also didn't say what this technology could be used for.

Although Snapdragon Satellite is dead, Qualcomm says it continuesto work with Iridium on standards-based solutions. Oppo might adopt one of these solutions for its next flagship phone, which is likely to be the Find X7 Pro.

Since satellite connectivity is a regionally restricted feature, it remains to be seen which countries/markets will be among the first wave to support it on the Oppo Find X7 Pro.

Apple's Emergency SOS via satellite feature was announced more than a year ago, but it is currently available in only 16 countries.
