Samsung's new Galaxy SmartTag2 comes with a complete redesign and longer battery life
Samsung announced the Galaxy SmartTag2 today (5 October 2023). The brand improved its item-tracking gadget with a new generation that features upgrades to its design and usability to make it more versatile and longer-lasting.
The Galaxy SmartTag2 has a new Lost Mode that lets users input contact information via a message. Any user who comes across a lost item tagged by Galaxy SmartTag2 can scan the item tracker via NFC and see the owner’s message and contact information.
The tracker also now comes with an improved Compass View, which gives arrows to show directions and distance of the Galaxy SmartTag2 relative to the user. This feature is unique to Galaxy smartphones with UWB (ultra-wideband), which makes it unique to premium flagship Samsung phones like the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy S23 Ultra.
SmartThings Find app has also been upgraded. Newly registered Galaxy SmartTags now installs a shortcut to the app, letting users launch SmartThings Find instantly. The app also gets a full-screen map view and improved interface to make the user experience better.
Two big improvements to Galaxy SmartTag2 lies in its design and battery life. The new version gives a larger metal loop, making it easier to attach to belongings and pets. The change in size also grants 500 days of uptime in Normal Mode (up from 300), and up to 700 days in power-saving mode.
The tracker also now has IP67 water-and-dust resistance, added on to existing features like Bluetooth Low Energy and UWB support.
Samsung Galaxy SmartTag2 retails in Black and White at S$38 from 20 October 2023 onwards. It can be found in the Samsung Online Store, Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung Official Store on Lazada and Shopee, local telcos, and major consumer electronics & IT stores.
