It looks like Android tablets are enjoying a bit of a resurgence, and leading the way its Samsung. After announcing its flagship Tab S9 series and Galaxy FE tablets, they are back at it again with the new Galaxy Tab A9 series tablets.

These are Samsung's most affordable tablets with prices starting at just S$249. Furthermore, the latest Tab A9 series stands out for having the biggest display sizes on any Galaxy A series tablet yet.

The Galaxy Tab A9 features an8.7-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1340 x 800 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The Galaxy Tab A9+, on the other hand, has a larger 11-inch LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a higher refresh rate of 90Hz.

Coupled with Samsung Dex support and the multi-active window feature, the biggest displays yet on the Galaxy A series tablets allow up to two apps to be shown simultaneously on the Tab A9 and up to three apps on the Tab A9+.

As the larger of the two models, the Tab A9+ comes with additional perks such as quad speakers that are powered by Dolby Atmos, 5G connectivity, a 5MP selfie camera, and a bigger 7,040mAh battery.

On the other hand, the Tab A9 has 4G LTE connectivity, a 2MP front-facing camera, and a 5,010mAh battery.

Samsung did not disclose the processors in these tablets but we've heard reliably that the Tab A9 has a MediaTek Helio G99 chip while the Tab A9+ is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 695.

Both tablets will feature 4GB of memory and 64GB of internal storage that can be expanded to 1TB with the use of a microSD card.

On paper, Samsung's Tab A9 series looks like a compelling option for anyone who's looking to get a basic and affordable tablet. Its specs and features won't excite anyone, but even the priciest model – the Tab A9+ with 5G connectivity – is over S$170 cheaper than Apple's most basic 10th-generation iPad.
