Thermaltake’s new Toughpower SFX power supplies are great for space-constrained chassis
It’s always great when gamers have more options to choose from, and Thermaltake’s new modular SFX power supplies are great mid-tier choices for cases that are more space-constrained, like the newSsupd’s Meshlicious ITX tower.
The Toughpower series is Thermaltake’s premium line of SFX power supplies; available in either 450W, 550W, or 650W variants, all three models are certified to meet the 80 PLUS Gold standards, which lends credence to their efficiency. In addition, Thermaltake tightened the voltage regulation to just ±2%, which exceeds Intel’s voltage regulation specifications of ±5%.
To cool the Japanese capacitors and other components, they’ve swapped out the 82mm fan from their previous generation and replaced it with their Ultra Quiet Hydraulic Bearing Fan. At a wider width of 90mm, this should increase the air intake but it can also operate in silent mode when the PSU is operating at minimal workloads.
In terms of accessories, Thermaltake helpfully included an SFX to ATX adapter bracket that can fit the Toughpower SFX power supply in all types of cases. And since this is a modular power supply, they’ve also included the usual set of cables:-
1×24-pin main ATX power connector1x 4+4-pin ATX 12V power connector2x PCIe 6+2 power connectors3x SATA power connectors2x4-pin peripheral and Molex connectors1x Molex to peripheral connector.
These power supplies are available in retail globally since the end of April 2021, and we’ll update this space for local prices and availability when it does pop by.
