Vivo has announced next year’s flagship handsets, the X100 series, which includes the Vivo X100 and Vivo X100 Pro.

Both models are rated IP68 for water and dust resistance.

Both Vivo X100 offer a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a 1-120Hz refresh rate, 2,800 × 1,260 pixels resolution, and HDR support. Both offer identical peak brightness (3,000 nits), on-display fingerprint sensors, and a punch-hole cutout for their 32MP front cameras.

Both are also 5G network-compatible devices, backed by a brand new MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipset — this new 2024 chipset built by TSMC (4nm) for flagship Android smartphones tout 15% single-core improvements, 40% multi-core upgrades, and a “world’s first” hardware-based Generative AI Engine which offers up to 33 billion parameters and on-device LoRA Fusion support.

They also have IP68 dust and water resistance, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, USB 2.0 Type-C ports, and a proprietary Android 14 reskin right out of the box.

What does the Vivo X100 Pro offer?

Vivo's telephoto camera uses ZEISS APO lenses and a moving periscope design.

Where they mainly differ lies in their cameras.

The X100 Pro features triple 50MP cameras. The primary camera comes with a 1-inch type Sony IMX989 sensor (f/1.75 aperture), a 50MP super-telephoto camera (f/2.5) with ZEISS APO lenses and a floating periscope module with a 100mm equivalent focal length, 4.3x optical zoom, and 100x digital zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide camera (f/2.0). Both the main and telephoto cameras come with OIS.

According to its product page, the ZEISS APO lenses are chromatic aberration lenses with an apochromatic design (hence the APO name). It optically aligns red, green, and blue light into the same plane of focus, which prevents fringing caused by coloured artefacts.

The Vivo X100’s triple rear camera includes a 50MP main (f/1.57), 64MP ZEISS telephoto (f/2.57), and 50MP ultra-wide (f/2.0). Like its Pro variant, both the main and telephoto cameras have OIS.

Also, the Vivo X100 Pro is a touch heavier than the Vivo X100 (221g versus 202g), likely due to its larger 5,400mAh battery, which supports 100W wired fast-charging and 50W wireless charging. The lighter Vivo X100 tops out at 5,000mAh, with 120W wired charging and no wireless charging.
