Netflix has just raised its prices in the US. This comes after Netflix said it added about 8.76 million new subscribers in the past few months, which brings its global subscriber count to around 247 million.

The growth in subscribers will likely be viewed as a vindication of its plans to clamp down on password-sharing. It started warning viewers in Singapore starting some time in May this year.

In the US, Netflix is raising prices of its Basic plan by US$2 – going from US$9.99 to US$11.99. Premium subscribers will see a bigger price hike of US$3 – going from US$19.99 to US$22.99.

Prices of the US$6.99 ad-support plan and US$15.49 Standard plan will be kept intact. It last raised prices in the US in January 2022.

There's no word yet if subscribers in Singapore will be affected. Netflix last raised prices here in October 2021, so it's been two years. If you ask me, the time seems ripe for a price hike. And before that, it also raised prices here in January 2020.

Currently in Singapore, Netflix is priced like this:

Basic – S$12.98Standard – S$17.48Premium – S$21.98
