The OnePlus Open.

OnePlusofficially took the wraps off its first foldable phone, the OnePlus Open.

As the OnePlus Open was co-developed with Oppo, the OnePlus Open and Oppo Find N3 share many similar specs. This is an overview of the main specs that both phones have in common:

Cameras

Main camera: 48MP Sony Lytia-T808 sensor (f/1.7, OIS)Telephoto camera: 64MP OmniVision OV64B (f/2.6, 3x optical zoom, 6x in-sensor zoom)Ultra-wide camera: 48MP Sony IMX581(f/2.2, 114° FOV, autofocus)

Front camera: 32MP (f/2.4, fixed focus)

Battery 4,805mAh with support for 67W SuperVOOC charging

To maximise the main screen estate, the OnePlus Open has a split-screen multitasking feature known as Open Canvas. This feature enables you to view three apps in full-screen or compact mode at the same time.

The crease is barely visible on the OnePlus Open.

When compared to its immediate rivals – theGoogle Pixel Fold and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5–the OnePlus Open is lacking mostly in two aspects: water resistance and wireless charging.

While the Pixel Fold and Galaxy Z Fold5 both have IPX8 ratings for water resistance, the OnePlus Open has to make do with anIPX4 rating for splash resistance.

The lack of wireless charging on the OnePlus Open might disappoint some users who like the convenience of the "wire-free" experience. Moreover, wireless charging is an expected feature of any high-end phone today and its absence on the OnePlus Open is disappointing.

Pricing and availability

The OnePlus Open is available in two colours: Voyager Black and Emerald Dusk, and it comes in only one configuration (16GB memory + 512GB storage).

No word yet on local availability and pricing, but the OnePlus Open will go on sale in the US next week and is priced there atUS$1,699 (~S$2,333).
