Days ago, we reported that Sonos has plans to enter "a new multi-billion dollar category." Today, we have details confirming that the company intends to unveilover-ear headphones.

According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg – yes, the same Gurman that covers Apple – Sonos plans to release high-end over-ear headphones that will cost around US$400 to US$500 (~S$535 to ~S$668).

This will pit it squarely against other high-end premium wireless headphones like the Sony WH-1000XM5and Bose QuietComfort Ultra.

Details of the headphones are hazy at the moment, but it is likely that they will be able to synchronize music with other Sonos products at home.

What's interesting is that Sonos opted to pursue over-ear headphones instead of the true wireless earbuds.

Presumably, it's because that larger form factor of headphonesmakes it easier for Sonos to deliver the performanceand features that its fans have come to expect from the brand.

Gurman also said thatSonos is planning to release a TV set-top box– likethe Apple TV 4K– late next year or in early 2025.

Voice control is said to be an important aspect of this product and Sonos is reportedly in discussions with streaming services like Netflix to develop apps for the platform.

Sonos expects these new products to help drive revenue growth and reverse a significant downturn in demand for its products following the pandemic.
